The Final 3 Days of Florida...from what I can remember.

Sorry I didn't update this blog in a timely manner, just didn't get to a computer to blog and I wasn't about to update this thing on my G1 either. Damn I miss my computer...stupid motherboard.

Anyways here's the latest entry of Florida...from Texas.

I did managed to hit the beach last Saturday(8.22) thanks to clear skies and a desire to take full advantage of the threat of rain being held @ bay. Tammy, being the social butterfly that she is, proceeded to invite everybody on the planet to come and join us on the fun & sun. Now I have to admit that this irked me a bit as I didn't want anybody around while we chilled at the beach(now before you suggest anything, it's not even like that. Sometimes less is more, and it's not like we couldn't hang with them later on). Anyways, I managed to get a bit of a kick around with a Brazilian and his son for a bit. After they tired for a bit, I decided to go for a walk along the beach with my iPod. It ended up being a long enjoyable walk soundtracked by Method Man & Redman's 'The Blackout 2', which is a good solid LP that took Hip Hop back to it's essence(well for a 90's head myself @ least). When I returned from my walk, I was greeted by Tammy's mother and some dude who's name escapes me @ the moment. After the beach, we decided to go to S.O.K.B(I think it's the name/acronym at least) for some drinks & grub. Nice touristy jawn that had some killer Jerk Chicken Wings. Needless to say that I'll definitely make another visit on my return trip back to Tampa/Sarasota.

Later on, we decided to go bar hopping once again in a night that nearly ruined my trip. One of Tammy's friends, Nikki, decided to make an ass out of herself and assume that I wasn't having a good time @ her man's bar when I was simply chillin, minding my own business, and watching NFL Preseason highlights. Fucking dumbass. Needless to say I arrived back to Tammy's in the foulest of moods.

Sunday 8.23.09-

I woke up still pissed off from the events of last night, primarily Nikki being a dumbass, and proceeded to miss Chelsea v. Fulham(which pissed me off even more). Anyways, we were due to take a trip to St. Petersburg to see the Texas Rangers take on the Tampa Bay Rays. Now, I'll be the first to admit that I'm NOT a Baseball fan, but it was cool seeing the Rangers in an away setting.

So, upon our arrival @ Tropicana Field, nice stadium btw, we were greeted by the screeners. Still somewhat in a funky mood, I get searched and was granted clearance into the ballpark where I was also blessed with these words as I was walking inside...

'You know we're gonna beat you guys today right?'

Me, still a bit pissed off, decided to flip off the security lady talking shit.

Security Lady: 'Hey, that's not very nice!'

Me(thinking): should I go back and give her a piece of my mind? Nah, fuck that, I need a beer.

Upon Entry, Tammy points out that they have Stella Artois on tap.

I like this ballpark already.

So, we go and take our seats and join the action in either the 2nd or 3rd inning. Boring ass shit except I was cheering on Pudge Rodriguez, happy to see him back in Ranger blue, Kinsler, Michael Young & Co. After a couple innings past, we make another beer run and during said run, I found 2 food items that definitely peeked my interest. One very familiar and one foreign, yet equally intriguing.

I had a SMOKED TURKEY LEG! GOD THAT TAKES ME BACK! :-D

And, introducing, a LOBSTER HOT DOG! :-D :-D [Sorry, I don't remember its proper name, I just know that despite the fact that they're $10, they're fucking OFF THE DAMN CHAIN!]

Needless to say, I'm back in Happy Festive Ramsey Mode Again!

During this Beer Run, we meet up with Tammy's friend Noah. Transplant from teh ATX who's cooler than the other side of the pillow, even if he sold out and roots for the Rays. lol. Thanks to him and his homegirl, we're now sitting around 3rd base surrounded by a Sea of Rays mixed with some Rangers fans for good measure. Good times. Oh, and btw, the Rangers won 4-0! BIYAH!

After the game, we headed over to the bar located inside the stadium where they had "Happy Hour" going on. I politely asked the bartender for a glass of water.

She hands me the equivalent of a shot glass full of ice and very little water.

"I don't give nothing away for free."

Needless to say I was NOT amused.

After hearing the drink specials(primarily Bud & Miller lite on the cheap...vomits), we bounce to another bar located outside the stadium but still on the grounds.

This bar blew the Stadium bar out the water.

I'm serious, there was NO competition.

Hell, one of their Bartenders was from Bulgaria! Fucking WIN! She was fucking FINE!(Note to self: GO TO BULGARIA! HAHAHAHA!)

So, we decided to wait out the stadium traffic there after a few rounds. There I met some cats who decided to give another Texas Transplant some shit, but apparently decided I was cool. /shrugs. He was reppin it old school with the Throwback Texas Rangers cap and Nolan Ryan shirt. Props!

Anyways, enough about Baseball.

Back to Tammy's to regroup and figure out wtf we're doing that evening while Tammy changes clothes(Noah decided to spill beer on her shirt).

First bar we hit was completely dead...but they had 2 Nintendo Wii's going at the same time. After I ordered the first round, I partook in some Wii Bowling. Good Times.

However, Tammy & Nikki were inclined to disagree.

They were ready to bounce to another bar.

Sure after I'm done with Wii Bowling and yet another round of Coronas...especially since the bar wouldn't let me take their Manchester Divided shirt out of its casing and burn it.

So after several games of Wii Bowling, we head to the other watering hole, much to my dismay. Right when we got there, I was introduced to one of their friends in which I ploclaimed how much I didn't wanna be there. Hahahaha. In the bar's defense, it was a cool bar, just wanted to go back and improve my Wii Bowling score. Around this point, Nikki decided to peace out and head back to Coleman's.

I don't know why, but after she left, my night suddenly got WAY better.

/shrugs

Anyways, some dude(my homeboy Tony) decided to talk shit about Texas and, naturally, I didn't take too kindly to that. What happened after that pretty much made Sunday the BEST night out of my entire trip. I met a couple people @ that bar(What up Tony & Tabitha), drank a LOT, partook in some Texas Hold 'Em(in which I actually won a hand in my drunken stooper...haha), drank some more, took some Birthday Shots and chilled. Oh my LAWD! hahahaha! It was around closing time and Nikki came back and scooped us up and took us back to Tammy's.

Monday 8.24.09

Offically my Birthday! I'll be honest, I don't remember much but that we watched a shit load of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, went & saw District 9(not as good as everybody's hyping it up to be), came back, grilled & chilled. Tammy's brother came back from his trip to Puerto Rico, acknowledged our existence, and proceeded to pass out!

Tuesday- 8.25.09

Not much to write about here except it was my trip back home. Went and had lunch @ this Colombian/Cuban Restaruant(food was OK, service sucked! And how dare they hit us up with a 20% Gratuity when they were completely rude?!?!?!?!) Flew home, Stopped in Charlotte, had Bojangles Chicken for Dinner(Good ass shit btw), and arrived back into DFW 30 mins earlier.

Overall, it was a good trip. One that was sorely needed! Argentina in roughly 6 months!

Peace

Florida Days 2-3

Another day, another potential threat of a Hurricane. After a very uneventful yesterday, in which I kicked it at the homebase(my homegirl's crib in which I'm crashing during my stay in Florida), I was poised to hit the beach for a little R & R. The only problem with that was a threat of a thunderstorm(and as of this writing, there's threats of Thunderstroms for the next 7 days). So, my plans were diverted to getting lunch @ an Italian Buffet, and shopping for some brauts, chicken, vino, y vodka.

Right now, the plans for tonight are hanging out with a homegirl I met the other night, Cowboys v. Titans, and a House Party later tonight. Something tells me I had better get a nap in.

Tomorrow, I was SUPPOSED to head on up to Tampa to watch the Chelsea/Fulham match. However, I misread the listings, so now my Sunday will consist of Football and Baseball as the Texas Rangers decided to follow me to Tampa this weekend to take on the Tampa Bay Rays. FC Dallas is away to Red Bull New York that day as well, but the only way I'll be able to keep up with that match is via Twitter and my Scoreboard App(peace to T-Mobile and their G1). Liverpool's in action on my birthday, for my birthday wish is for the Reds to walk away with a loss. :-)

This sucks, because I was REALLY looking forward to hitting the beach on this trip. There's always a next time though....possibly after my trip to Argentina.

And in other unrelated news, I want an Australian Shepard.

Florida Day 1

Yesterday, I began my journey to the Sunshine State. Destination: Tampa/Sarasota, FL. 6 Days of R&R and basically doing the same shit I always do @ home, just in another location with different people in places.

Yesterday was also a re-introduction of travelling via airplane...this time in a post 9/11 America. So, I had to do the old bullshit procedures of taking my shoes off and placing my hair grease in a plastic bag(I didn't even bother packing any toiletries as I can purchase them when I arrived). Once I go through the rigmaro(sp?hahaha), I copped some tacos and boarded my flight. First leg: Charlotte, N.C. There, I met a woman from Stephenville(originally from the Toronto area) who was heading back to Canada to attend a funeral. She was a nice lady to share a beer and snacks with as we chatted in between me watching The Boondocks and her reading Twilight. After we landed, we parted ways(after said beer) and I went for a Gelatto and re-boarded my plane to Tampa.

The 2nd leg of my journey wasn't as pleasant as the first. In fact, it kind of sucked. My new neighbors were bitching and crying about Airlines, which ones were safe, etc. At this point, I couldn't wait to take the metallic bird 36,000 ft so I can put on my iPod and tune those fools the fuck out! And to make matters worse, the woman in front of me decided to recline back and relax, this making my trip EXTRA uncomfortable. Fortunately for me, the journey lasted about an hour. I'm seriously considering changing my seat for my Argentina trip from window to aisle.

Once I arrived in Tampa, I was greeted by a nice little thunderstorm en route to Sarasota. Fortunately for me, it didn't follow me to my final destination. Once I arrived, I immediately hit up the local wal mart to buy my toiletries and settle in and sleep off my jet lag...or so I thought.
Once I dropped my bag off, I hit up some spot that kind of reminds me of Boomer Jack's & Duke's back home: The Ale House. We stopped there for a bite to eat, MLS Soccer(Chicago lost to the Beckhamless LA Galaxy 2-0), and drinks(it was Ladies Night, so the homegirl wanted to go there and meet up with a couple friends).

So, after hitting up some of Sarasota's watering holes(and after getting into a near scuffle after being in the state of Florida for nearly 5 hours), I hit the sack after coming to the disappointing realization that there are NO Jack-N-The Box locations nor 24 hour Wal Mart SuperCenters around town.

Anyways, here's to a dope trip.

Re-Boot & 4 Days to Tampa

Sup?

I'm basically re-booting my blog and converting it to a blog about my travels. Since I rarely use this blog, I felt that it made more sense to convert this blog vs. starting a new one(sorry wordpress...haha). Anyways, I have about 4 days left until I fly out for Tampa, FL. Right now, my vacation is pretty much wide open(seeing as how I'll be on an incredibly limited budget, but oh well), but I really don't care. I just wanna hit the beach and write some rappy raps. Anything else would be welcomed with an open mind.

Yeah, this blog wasn't all that informative, but again, it's a re-boot.

One!
